GET STORMY was represented by another winner at Gulfstream on Wednesday when Clyde’s Queen broke her maiden in the 5th race, a Maiden Claiming ($35,000) race going 7-1/2 furlongs on turf, for Sullimar Stable and trainer, Tom Bush!
Jack Milton, a G1-winning Miler by War Front, has sired his first foal born Jan. 30, 2017. The colt, bred by David J. Lavoie, is out of Indy Gold (A.P. Indy), who is a daughter of the G3-winning mare Tennis Lady ($283,048).
“He’s a big, beautiful, long-legged colt. I’m very impressed!” said Lavoie.
Jack Milton raced in the silks of Gary Barber and was campaigned by Todd Pletcher. He retired sound as a Graded stakes winner at three, four, and five after 19 career starts at eleven different tracks and with earnings of $853,828. Jack Milton notched his Grade 1 win in the Keeneland Maker’s 46 Mile, captured two other Graded victories and also placed in an additional six graded Stakes, three of them Grade 1 races.

WILL CALL (c, 3, Country Day–Vote Early {SW, $230,512}, by More Than Ready) was crushed into 1-2 favoritism for his Indiana Grand debut Sept. 28 and ran to the money en route to a 13 1/4-length tally through the slop. A well-bet fourth to Blame Will (Blame) in a Nov. 26 Churchill allowance, the Klein homebred was the 17-10 second choice to favored St. Louie Guy (Kantharos), who was entered for the claiming tag. Always prominent, Will Call raced in the two path on the turn, challenged for the lead two furlongs from home and was never in danger from there, scoring by 2 1/4 lengths. St. Louie Guy completed the exacta and had no takers. Divine Kaleb (Caleb’s Posse), recently third, placed second, in the Sugar Bowl S., went wrong mid-race, dropped C. J. McMahon and was subsequently euthanized. The Kleins campaigned Country Day (by Speightstown) to a trio of black-type wins, including this track’s Colonel Power S., and a runner-up effort in the GII Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. GET STORMY is having a big year so far with his first crop three year olds. After a nice Allowance win last weekend with Fifty Five at Gulfstream; Clyde’s Image followed up the success at that track, with a very good second in the $100,000 G3 Dania Beach Stakes Gulfstream Park at odds of 45-1! Both of these Tom Bush trainees look to have a bright future ahead of them this year!

FIFTY FIVE (f, 3, Get Stormy–Soave {SP, $142,734}, by Brahms) ran on well to be third on debut over the Belmont lawn Oct. 13 and graduated next out Nov. 11 at Aqueduct. Let go at 14-1 in this spot, the home bred was off a step slowly and dropped back to run last as a strong pace developed through a :22.76 quarter. The tempo slowed a bit to a :47.58 half and Fifty Five, still last at the three-furlong marker, quickly advanced into contention on the latter half of the far turn. Favored TDN Rising Star Tamit (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) struck the lead briefly near the sixteenth pole, but Fifty Five finished with a full head of steam to soon overhaul that one and notch a half-length upset. From BloodHorse.com – “Five Each Way, a half sister to group/grade 1 winner Miss Temple City, scored her maiden victory Jan. 1 in a maiden special weight at Tampa Bay Downs for trainer Graham Motion.
Going a mile on firm turf, Shack’s Legacy set a moderate pace while the eventual winner tucked in mid-pack behind horses. Rounding the final turn, the once spread-out field bunched together and with a furlong to go, Five Each Way was able to accelerate away to win by 1 1/2 lengths in just her second start.
The daughter of Bullet Train finished seventh in her Nov. 18 debut at Laurel Park. At the time Motion stated it was not where he originally intended to start the then 2-year-old filly.
“We just missed Saratoga and (hadn’t) been able to get her in since,” he said. “We decided to wait for Belmont and we just (weren’t) able to get her in with the weather. She’s been entered several times, but really she was either on the also-eligibles or the race came off the grass, or any of those things.”

Texas Red, winner of the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in 2014, will enter stud at Pope McLean’s Crestwood Farm in Kentucky for the 2017 season.
Trained and co-owned by Keith Desormeaux in partnership with Erich Brehm, Wayne Detmar, Gene Voss and Lee Michaels; Texas Red showed early promise in a Maiden Special Weight win at Del Mar, and in coming back to run 3rd in the G1 Frontrunner Stakes to American Pharoah and Calculator. Texas Red’s two year old campaign was capped off with a brilliant 6-1/2 length G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile win in 1:41.91 which happens to be the fastest running of the race in the last eight years. He earned a 104 beyer speed figure for that effort. Despite narrowly being outvoted for Champion two year old, he started his three year old year sharing the #1 spot on the Experimental Free Handicap with American Pharoah.
After opening his 3-year-old campaign with a runner-up finish in the G2 San Vicente Stakes to now MGISW sprinter Lord Nelson, the son of Afleet Alex was knocked off the Triple Crown trail with a foot abscess but returned later that year to capture the G2 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga over MGISW Frosted earning a 105 beyer.

Bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, Texas Red retires with three wins, three seconds and one third from nine starts and $1,767,300 in earnings. Texas Red is by dual Classic Winner Afleet Alex, a consistent sire of Graded Stakes Winners. He is out of the mare, Ramatuelle, a successful Stakes winner in Chile before being sent to the United States, where she placed in the 2005 G3 Desert Stormer Handicap.
Keith Desormeaux, Erich Brehm, Wayne Detmar, Gene Voss and Lee Michaels will retain a majority interest in Texas Red, and will stand him in partnership with Crestwood Farm.
