‘STAR OF PARADISE’ RUNS 2ND IN $125,000 STAKES

“Star of Paradise,” a 5 year old son of TASTE OF PARADISE, ran an unlucky second in the $125,000 Buck’s Boy Handicap at Hawthorne Race Track going 1 1/16 miles on Saturday. In a dog fight heading for home, he was cut off by the eventual winner, but re-rallied to finish a hard luck second as the longest shot in the field at 74-1. The second place finish boosted his lifetime earnings to $190,390.

Three-time Grade I winner and millionaire Get Stormy will enter stud at Crestwood Farm in Kentucky for the 2013 season.

Mary Sullivans homebred Get Stormy was a winner at two and went on to win Graded Stakes at three, four, five and six. At his best from a mile to nine furlongs, the Tom Bush charge won nine stakes total (seven graded), placed in another six, and won or placed in 20 of 31 lifetime starts to earn $1,606,812. He won seven of eight races and five in a row, between July as a three year old and August as a four year old. Known as an enthusiastic frontrunner; nine of his eleven wins were won in gate-to-wire fashion; including his three Grade I wins.

He was the best horse I ever trained and also the most intelligent. said Bush He is a throwback to the type of horses we used to have and need to breed back to. He is a fast and sturdy horse that was always consistent. I have had a number of respected people in the industry mention how good looking this horse is, and I would have to agree. There is a lot to like about him.

Get Stormy posted three Triple digit beyers and beat horses such as: Court Vision (MG1SW of $3,746,658), Presious Passion (MG1SW of $2,694,599), Wise Dan (MG1SW of $2,461,638), Little Mike (MG1SW of $1,454,412), Turallure (G1SW of $1,341,375), and Sidneys Candy (G1SW of $1,104,810) among notable others. He ran second by a half length to three-time champion Gio Ponti in the 2011 Grade I Shadwell Mile at Keeneland as they finished the mile in a speedy 1:34.0.

Get Stormy is by Champion Juvenile sire Stormy Atlantic, who also is a top ten General sire. He is from the female family of Coolmore stallion Canford Cliffs. Something to note is that Get Stormy is line-bred to the female family of Rough Shod, which has produced leading sires Nuryev, Sadlers Wells, etc. said Robert Keck of Crestwood Farm.

He will stand for a fee of $5,000 stands and nurses. Get Stormy will participate in the Share the Upside program at Crestwood Farm. He is now available for inspection, please call the farm for an appointment.

COUNTRY DAY TO CRESTWOOD FARM FOR 2013

Bertram, Elaine and Richard Kleins homebred Country Day will enter stud at Crestwood Farm in Kentucky for the 2013 season.

Country Day was a multiple stakes winner of $503,829 and ran a close second in the Grade II Breeders Cup Turf Sprint in 2011. Under the tutelage of Steve Margolis, he won stakes on all three surfaces, at nine different tracks until he was six years old. He recorded two triple digit beyers on dirt, including a 105 as a three year old. He won seven races total and was in the money in 13 of his 19 lifetime starts.

Country Day is the classiest horse I ever trained, said Margolis.He was very fast and versatile; winning stakes on all three surfaces. I look forward to watching his impact on future generations.

Country Day is by leading sire Speightstown and out of the graded stakes winning mare Hidden Assets. He is a half brother to Grade III placed stakes winners Due Date ($276,788) and Good Deed ($156,143). Country Day is tail female to Calumet Farms matriarch, Blue Delight. This outstanding female family has produced notable sires such as Alydar, Grand Slam, Oratorio (IRE), Codex, etc. Currently there are 67 stakes horses under his first four dams, which include 40 stakes winners, 23 graded stakes horses and 13 graded stakes winners.

“Country Day was a very talented horse with tons of class as shown on the racetrack, said Richard Klein. We look forward to breeding many of our broodmares to him. We are very excited to witness Country Day’s offspring in races in the future.”
